The Kennecott Mine Office Building is part of a growing trend at Kennecott Utah Copper of building LEED certified buildings. This particular building, designed by Architect Garth Shaw of GSBS Architects , uses a sun shade above exterior windows to minimize heat going into the building. In addition, light shelves on the interiors reflect daylight further into the building to further reduce energy usage. The building also boasts use of recycled materials, water efficient landscaping, and Green Power.
